About Dr. Unsworth

Dr. Sinéad Unsworth

Dr. Unsworth is a registered psychologist in British Columbia (#2371). She conducts both individual psychotherapy and psychological assessments for adults. She works collaboratively with her clients to develop an integrated approach to treatment that is tailored to the particular life goals and interests of her clients.​

Dr. Unsworth completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan in psychology. She received her graduate degrees including her PhD in counselling psychology and a Masters of Arts in counselling with an addiction emphasis, at the University of North Dakota. In her PhD training, she received specialized training in  integrated behavioral health care, multicultural and social justice issues, and vocational psychology. Her research interests in her PhD program consisted of studying concepts such as mindfulness,  self-compassion, and the clinical application of ethics.

Following her PhD, Dr. Unsworth completed her predoctoral training and postdoctoral residency with a subspecialty in behavioral health and addiction at the Student Health and Counselling Services at the University of California in Davis, California. She has worked and trained in a variety of settings across Saskatchewan, North Dakota, and California including: integrated care facilities, outpatient clinics, university counselling centres, and Veteran Affairs Hospitals.  In addition to being trained in individual therapy, Dr. Unsworth has also facilitated mindfulness meditation groups, as well as groups for sexual trauma and addictions.

Dr. Unsworth has been working in private practice since 2017. She is registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia, the College of Psychologists of Saskatchewan, and is a member of the British Columbia Psychological Association.

When she is not working, she enjoys being active outdoors, playing piano and guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
